Uttar Pradesh Upgrades 65% Schools Under Operation Kayakalp
The Uttar Pradesh government has been working to improve schools through a program called Operation Kayakalp.
They have already upgraded 65% of schools with new furniture and aim to complete this for all schools by 2025.
Before 2017, many schools did not have furniture.
The government has also started teaching in local languages instead of English as the main language in schools.
They are also planning to make sure exams happen regularly and to fill empty teacher jobs quickly.
The previous government, led by the Samajwadi Party, did not provide furniture in schools.
Operation Kayakalp has upgraded 65% of Uttar Pradesh schools with furniture, aiming for 100% by 2025.
The BJP government started this initiative after finding many schools in dilapidated condition in 2017.
12,279 schools were started with English as the medium of instruction before the National Education Policy changed it to mother tongue/local language.
The government plans to formulate a policy for regular exams and timely teacher recruitment.
The Samajwadi Party members questioned the government about school conditions and teacher recruitment.
