Mumbai Demolishes Over 280 Illegal Structures in Malwani Mangrove Zone

Imagine a special forest in Mumbai called the mangrove zone, which is very important for the environment.

Some people built houses and other structures there without permission, even filling the land and cutting trees.

This is not allowed because it hurts the environment.

So, the government, with help from the police, went to Malwani and removed more than 280 of these unauthorized buildings.

They used special satellite pictures to find them.

The government wants to protect these important natural areas.

However, they also said that people who have lived in small huts there since before the year 2000 will be okay.

The government is warning that if people try to build there again, they will be caught and made to pay for the damage.
