Calcutta HC Allows Teachers' Election Duty Despite Objections
Imagine teachers at your school also helping with elections.
Some teachers in West Bengal were asked to help with checking voter lists, which made them unhappy.
They went to court, saying it's too much work.
The court looked at the rules and said there isn't anything stopping teachers from doing this extra job.
The judge said it's okay, as long as the election work doesn't mess up their teaching.
They also have to follow the Election Commission's rules from 2022.
Calcutta High Court refused to interfere with Election Commission's decision.
Primary school teachers are being appointed as Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The case was filed due to concerns about teachers' workload.
The court found no legal restriction on using teachers for BLO duties.
Duties must follow EC's 2022 Comprehensive Instructions.
