PU Revives Long-Delayed Paid Parking Plan for Campus
Panjab University (PU) is planning to start charging for parking on its campus, similar to how the city's parking works.
They want to make parking easier and reduce the number of cars driving around.
There will be special spots for visitors, students, and faculty, with a private company helping to manage everything.
Students will pay a yearly fee and get stickers.
The university hopes this will make the campus safer and better organized.
The plan has been talked about before, but this time they are really trying to make it happen, including RFID tags and new parking lots.
The Vice-Chancellor believes paid parking will lead to better maintenance.
Panjab University plans to introduce paid parking across its Sector 14 campus.
The proposal includes designated parking zones managed by a private contractor.
Parking fees will align with the municipal corporation's rates (currently Rs 14).
Three faculty-only parking zones have been proposed.
The plan aims to streamline campus traffic and discourage excessive vehicle use.
