Chicken to replace buffalo meat for Republic Day aerobatics
For the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi, the government is using chicken meat instead of buffalo meat to keep black kites away from the airshow.
This is because these birds can be dangerous for the low-flying planes.
The chicken meat will be given to the birds at 20 places in the city over 12 days.
This is done every year to make sure the airshow is safe and the birds are not harmed.
The meat is cut into small pieces and packed in bags.
The Indian Air Force works with the forest department to do this.
This year, they are using chicken because it is better for both the birds and the airshow.
Chicken meat will replace buffalo meat to manage black kites during Republic Day celebrations in Delhi.
1,275 kg of boneless chicken will be distributed at 20 locations over 12 days (15-26 January).
The exercise aims to prevent bird strikes on low-flying aircraft during the airshow.
Daily distribution ranges from 170 kg to 255 kg, with most days having 170 kg.
The meat will be supplied in 20-30gm pieces, packed in 5kg packets, and delivered to Wazirabad's Wildlife Rescue Centre.
