Congress Attacks Modi Government Over Rising Commodity Prices

The Congress party says many everyday foods and household goods are becoming more expensive.

Jairam Ramesh blamed the Modi government for the rising prices.

He pointed to a report saying onions became about 76% more expensive in Nashik in one month.

The report also said onion prices doubled in some states when sold in large quantities.

Congress said sugar, milk, oil, fruits and basic foods were also getting harder to afford.

Ramesh said unemployment and job losses were making the problem worse.

He argued that families have limited incomes but face higher kitchen bills.

He asked the government to explain how poor and middle-class people can pay for everything.
