29 Young Men in Jalgaon Die by Suicide Over Marriage
In the first half of 2026, 29 young men in Jalgaon district in India took their own lives because they couldn't find someone to marry.
The police said the whole district had 443 suicides in that time, with many men, women, and children also dying.
Other reasons for suicide were alcohol, depression, family fights, and debt.
The police officer, Shrikant Dhivare, said that many young women now want to live in cities, making it hard for rural men to find partners.
He asked families to talk openly about feelings, avoid borrowing too much, and get help if someone is upset.
He said that talking and support from society can stop these tragedies.
