Afsal Breaks National Record, Sets Sights on World Championships
A runner named Mohammed Afsal is really fast!
He ran an 800-meter race in a super-quick time, breaking the old record.
Even though he's super speedy, he didn't get to run in an important race in Asia because he didn't finish high enough in another race.
This made him work even harder.
He then ran another fast race and set a new record!
Now, he is trying to get into another big competition by practicing and racing against other fast runners from other countries.
Mohammed Afsal broke the national 800m record with a time of 1:45.61 in Dubai.
Afsal missed the Asian Championships team after finishing fourth in the final at the National Federation Athletics Championships.
Jinson Johnson believes Afsal and Krishan Kumar have the potential to run 1:44 this year.
Afsal is now focused on securing a spot in the World Championships.
Afsal is seeking more international competition to improve.
