Akhilesh Says BJP Camp MLAs Contact SP Ahead Of Polls
Akhilesh Yadav leads the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.
He said several lawmakers supporting the ruling BJP-led coalition are speaking with his party.
He also said the SP will not promise them positions it cannot provide.
The comments came before elections for seats in the Rajya Sabha.
Yadav said the earlier election was unfair because of dishonesty and cross-voting.
He asked lawmakers to make a different choice this time.
He said the SP’s previous alliance will continue.
He also said election candidates should receive seats based on how likely they are to win.
Akhilesh Yadav said many MLAs from the BJP-led ruling coalition are in contact with the Samajwadi Party.
Yadav said the SP would not make promises to incoming MLAs that it could not fulfill.
He said the SP’s earlier alliance would continue ahead of next year’s Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
Yadav accused the BJP of dishonesty during the previous Rajya Sabha election, saying cross-voting cost the SP three seats.
