Pat Cummins Doubtful for Ashes Opener in Perth
The Australian cricket team captain, Pat Cummins, might not play in the first big game, called the Ashes, against England.
This game is in Perth, Australia, in late November.
Cummins hurt his back while playing against the West Indies and has been resting.
He had another check-up, and it showed he needs to be careful.
He says he feels okay, but he's not bowling or doing much right now.
Missing the first game would be very disappointing for him.
If he can't play, Steve Smith will be the captain instead.
The team is working hard to get Cummins ready, but they'll make a final decision closer to the game.
Pat Cummins, the Australian Test captain, is uncertain for the first Ashes Test.
The first Test is at Optus Stadium in Perth from November 21-25, 2025.
Cummins sustained a back injury during the West Indies series in July.
He is already ruled out of white-ball series against New Zealand and India next month.
If Cummins can't play, Steve Smith will likely captain the team.
