BRS leaders allege Telangana coal shortages are crippling power generation

BRS leaders say Telangana is not receiving enough suitable coal for its power plants.

They met a Singareni official to discuss the problem.

The leaders said some power units are producing less electricity or have stopped.

They blamed poor administration and the diversion of better coal to other states.

They also claimed that 40 lakh tonnes of coal worth Rs 1,600 crore cannot be accounted for.

The shortages have affected farm electricity supplies, according to the party.

Some factories reportedly had to use diesel generators.

BRS demanded more coal for local plants and investigations into the missing stock.
