Ex-Officer Convicted of Second-Degree Murder in Sonya Massey Killing

A police officer named Sean Grayson was found guilty of murder for shooting a woman named Sonya Massey.

It happened when Massey called the police because she thought someone was breaking into her house.

When the officers, including Grayson, came inside, Massey picked up a pot of boiling water.

Grayson told her to drop it, but then he shot her three times, even though she had already dropped the pot and apologized.

Massey, who was a Black woman, was killed.

Grayson, who is White, said he thought she was a threat.

The jury decided he was guilty of a lesser murder charge, and he might go to prison for up to 20 years.

Her family received a large settlement, and they hope for a strong sentence.
