Thane MACT Awards ₹63.88 Lakh to SBARRO Manager's Family
A man named Sharad Bhimrao Gaikwad was riding on a motorcycle in Thane in 2018 when a fast truck hit them.
He got very badly hurt and passed away a few days later in the hospital.
He was 34 years old and worked as a manager at SBARRO New York Pizza.
His family went to a special court called a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal to get justice.
The court heard all the evidence and decided that the accident was caused by the truck driver's careless driving.
The court ordered the truck owner and the insurance company to pay his family ₹63.88 lakh.
The family will also receive 9% interest on that money every year.
The insurance company tried to say the truck was not involved, but the judge did not agree.
The money is meant to cover the income he would have earned and his medical expenses.
This payment is called compensation for an accident.
