CBI Charges 30 in Rs 1,000 Crore HPZ Token Scam

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against 30 people, including two Chinese nationals, for a big fraud called the HPZ Token scam.

This scam happened during the Covid-19 lockdown and tricked many Indians into investing money in a fake app that promised high returns from cryptocurrency mining.

The app collected crores of rupees, but the money was stolen by the operators and sent to fake companies controlled by foreign entities.

Two Chinese men, Wan Jun and Li Anming, were key figures in this scam.

They set up these fake companies and used them to launder the money.

The CBI found that over Rs 1,000 crore was moved in just a few months.

The scam was part of a bigger criminal network that also did other online frauds.

The CBI is committed to stopping such cyber frauds and will continue to work both nationally and internationally to protect people from these scams.
