Assam relaxes two-child norm for SC, ST, others
The Assam government in India has changed a rule that used to say people could only have two children to get certain benefits.
Now, some groups like SC, ST, tea garden, Moran, and Matak communities can have up to three children and still get government jobs, run for elections, and receive help for their self-help groups.
The government made this change to help these groups keep their unique identities and not disappear over time.
The rule started in 2021, but now it's a bit more relaxed for these specific communities.
