Libya Warns of Force Majeure After Oil Pipeline Shutdown

Libya Warns of Force Majeure After Oil Pipeline Shutdown

A pipeline connected to Libya’s Sharara oil field has been shut down.

The shutdown may stop some oil from moving to export facilities.

Libya’s National Oil Corporation warned that a long interruption could lead to a force majeure declaration.

This means the company may say that events outside its control are preventing normal operations.

If less oil is exported, the Libyan government could collect less money.

The NOC asked for the pipeline to be reopened quickly.

It also asked authorities to protect oil facilities.

The report says protests and other disruptions should not interfere with these installations.
