India's Exports to US Plunge 28.5%
India's exports to the US have dropped a lot because the US increased taxes on Indian goods.
From May to October 2025, exports fell by 28.5%.
The US started with a 10% tax in April and raised it to 50% by August.
This made Indian goods very expensive in the US.
Things like smartphones, jewelry, and clothes were hit the hardest.
A group called GTRI says India should start a plan to help exporters and ask the US to lower these taxes.
The Indian government has approved this plan, but it's not working yet because there are no rules or money being given out.
The drop in exports is not just because of the taxes but also because the US economy is slowing down.
Some people think that next year, things might get better for India's markets.
Big companies like Morgan Stanley and Citigroup think that India's markets will start to do better next year.
They say that earnings are stabilizing and the government is helping.
The rupee, which is the money of India, has been doing badly, but some people think it might start to get better soon.
The Indian economy grew by 8.2% in the last quarter, which is good, but the International Monetary Fund thinks it will grow a little less next year because of the US taxes.
The stock market in India is also doing better, but it's still not as good as other countries.
Some people think that money might start coming back to India from other places if the taxes get better.
India's exports to the US fell 28.5% from May to October 2025 due to tariff hikes.
US tariffs on Indian goods rose from 10% in April to 50% by August 2025.
Labour-intensive products like gems, textiles, and solar panels saw the steepest decline of 31.2%.
Smartphone exports dropped 36%, while pharmaceuticals saw a minor decline of 1.6%.
GTRI urges India to implement the Export Promotion Mission and negotiate tariff reductions with the US.
