Warner Bros. Discovery & Canal+ Expand HBO Max Deal
Warner Bros.
Discovery and Canal+ have made a big deal to bring HBO Max to more places.
HBO Max will now be available in Belgium and Austria, in addition to countries like Poland and Hungary where it was already on Canal+.
They also renewed deals for other Warner Bros.
Discovery channels and movies.
This means people in these countries can watch HBO Max shows and movies, and Canal+ will show Warner Bros.
movies six months after they come out in theaters in France.
Canal+ also has deals with Netflix, which could be important if Netflix buys Warner Bros.
Discovery.
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Canal+ have expanded their partnership to include HBO Max in Belgium and Austria, in addition to renewing the service in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
The agreement also renews the distribution of around 12 WBD channels in Africa through MultiChoice Group, including CNN International and Cartoon Network.
Warner Bros. movies will continue to have an exclusive pay-TV window on Canal+ in France, six months after their theatrical release.
Canal+ has existing distribution deals with Netflix, which could become significant if Netflix's acquisition of WBD goes through.
The partnership marks a 'major milestone' in the international collaboration between WBD and Canal+.
