India Reveals Student Deportation Data to Parliament
The Indian government shared information in parliament about Indian students who were sent back or not allowed to enter other countries in the last five years.
The most students were sent back from the UK, with 170 students.
Other countries like Australia, Russia, and the USA also sent back some students.
The USA and Kyrgyzstan did not let some students in because of problems with their papers.
The main reasons students were sent back include breaking visa rules, not having enough money, or not going to classes.
The government shared this information to help understand the problems Indian students face when studying abroad.
The UK deported the highest number of Indian students (170) in the last five years, followed by Australia (114), Russia (82), and the USA (45).
The USA and Kyrgyzstan denied entry to 62 and 11 Indian students, respectively, due to incomplete or inappropriate admission documents.
Major reasons for deportation include violations of visa norms, noncompliance with host country regulations, and failure to maintain financial requirements.
Deportations also occurred due to breaches of student visa conditions, such as unauthorized employment or illegal business activities.
The number of Indian students studying abroad was 7,50,365 in 2022, 8,94,783 in 2023, and 7,60,073 in 2024.
