Karnataka Announces AI, Coding Programme for Schools from Class 6
The leader of Karnataka, a state in India, made a big announcement on Independence Day.
He said that schools will start teaching artificial intelligence, or AI, from the sixth grade.
AI is a special kind of technology that lets computers learn and solve problems.
Kids will also learn coding, which is how people give computers instructions.
The leader also wants to build a special university for AI in Bengaluru.
It would be the first government-owned AI university in India.
The plan is to help students learn new technology skills.
That way, when they grow up, they can compete with people from all over the world.
The government also has other plans, like filling thousands of job openings and helping students from villages go to college.
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced the AI Akshara Abhiyana and Coding Gurukula programme during his Independence Day speech at the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru.
Artificial intelligence education will be introduced in all schools from Class 6.

The government targets a USD three trillion (Rs 320 lakh crore) economy by 2047 under the slogan 'Youth Karnataka, New India'.
Karnataka plans to fill around 72,000 government vacancies within six months and will provide 7.5 per cent reservation for rural students in professional higher education.
