APG Report Flags Rise of Cyber Scam Hubs, Human Trafficking

Criminal groups are tricking thousands of people into helping them cheat others online.

They run secret workplaces called cyber scam hubs in Southeast Asia.

They lure workers with fake job ads that promise good pay.

When people arrive, the criminals take their passports and force them to stay.

The trapped workers run online scams for 12 to 16 hours every day.

These scams trick people around the world out of their money.

The criminals earn billions of dollars each year this way.

A group called the Asia-Pacific Group on Money Laundering wrote a report about this.

It says countries must cooperate to stop these crimes and free the victims.
