Odisha's First Indigenous Satellite CGUSAT-1 Ready for Launch
Odisha is about to launch its first satellite, called CGUSAT-1, on January 12.
This satellite was made by a team of students and teachers from C. V. Raman Global University in Bhubaneswar.
It will help during emergencies like cyclones by sending important messages even when regular communication systems are down.
The satellite will orbit Earth and send strong signals over Bhubaneswar.
The team worked hard to build it in just one year after learning about satellite technology in Israel and Hyderabad.
ISRO, India's space agency, will help launch and regulate the satellite.
This is a big achievement for Odisha and shows how universities can contribute to space technology.
Odisha's first indigenously developed satellite, CGUSAT-1, is set for launch on January 12 from Sriharikota.
Built by a 31-member team from C. V. Raman Global University (CVRGU), Bhubaneswar, the satellite is designed for emergency communication during disasters.
CGUSAT-1 will operate in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and provide a reliable communication backup when terrestrial networks are disrupted.
The satellite's strongest signal footprint will be over Bhubaneswar, enabling transmission of critical data and distress messages.
The development journey began after the team gained exposure to small-satellite technologies in Israel and completed the design, assembly, and testing within a year.
