Karnataka Urges Centre to Release Pending JJM Funds
Priyank Kharge, a minister in Karnataka, wrote a letter to the central government asking them to release the money they owe for a project called Jal Jeevan Mission.
This project is about giving clean drinking water to houses in rural areas.
Karnataka has done a lot of work and spent a lot of money on this project, but the central government hasn't given their share.
Because of this, some work is slowing down, and workers are being sent home.
The minister wants the central government to send the money quickly so the project can continue without any problems.
Karnataka has achieved 86% functional household tap connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The state has allocated Rs.11,050.00 crores for the scheme in the current financial year.
The central government's share of the expenditure is Rs.11,786.63 crores, which is significantly less than the state's share.
Pending bills amounting to Rs.1700 crore and pipeline bills of Rs.2600 crore are affecting the progress of the scheme.
The minister has urged the Centre to expedite the release of funds to ensure uninterrupted implementation of the JJM.
