The Pitt PAs Ratify First Union Contract
The production assistants (PAs) on a TV show called The Pitt have made history by becoming the first major TV production group to join a union.
They joined LiUNA Local 724, which is part of the Hollywood laborers’ union.
This new contract gives them health and pension benefits, paid training, and a special committee to help them move up in their careers.
The PAs are happy because they now have better support, especially for those with families.
Other TV shows are also trying to unionize their PAs, and some showrunners are supporting these efforts.
This is a big step for PAs in the TV industry.
Production assistants on The Pitt have ratified their first union contract with LiUNA Local 724.
The contract covers all PAs for the remainder of the current season and Season 3.
PAs will now qualify for Motion Picture Industry Health and Pension benefits.
The agreement includes employer-paid training and a pathway committee for career advancement.
This is the first major television production where PAs have unionized.
