Kerala Transports Kidney on Commercial Flight for First Time
Organ Transported on Commercial Flight For First Time in Kerala · deccanchronicle.com

For the first time in Kerala, a kidney was transported on a regular airplane instead of a special plane or helicopter.

The kidney came from a 17-year-old girl named Ayona Monson, who sadly passed away after falling from her school building.

The kidney was flown from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram on an IndiGo Airlines flight.

A doctor named Dr. Namitha helped carry the kidney on the plane.

The flight had a short stop in Kochi but continued to Thiruvananthapuram.

The kidney was then taken to a hospital for a transplant into a 27-year-old woman.

Usually, organs are transported using special planes or helicopters, but this time, a regular airline was used because there were some problems with using a helicopter.

The other kidney was transplanted in Kozhikode, and the liver and corneas were sent to different hospitals for other transplants.
