Amsterdam Hosts 22nd Drag Olympics Amid Pride Celebrations
Amsterdam held a big drag race called the Drag Olympics.
People from ten countries ran in high‑heel shoes, tossed handbags, and played volleyball.
The event is the biggest of its kind in the world.
The founder, Jennifer Hopelezz, lit a special flame and asked everyone to keep Pride alive.
Some performers talked about fighting hate and staying brave.
The day was full of music, costumes, and cheering crowds.
It shows how fun and powerful Pride can be.
The event also reminded people that everyone deserves to be seen and respected.
It was a proud moment for the city and its queer community.
The 22nd annual Drag Olympics took place in Amsterdam on Friday, drawing competitors from 10 countries.
Events included a high‑heel race, handbag toss, tug‑of‑war, “bitch” volleyball, and hula hoop.
Organisers House of Hopelezz said the event is the world’s largest sporting competition for drag performers.
Participants ranged from professional queens to novices, with makeup artists on hand for “cosmetic emergencies.”
The opening ceremony featured Olympic flame carried by founder Jennifer Hopelezz, who urged an Olympic truce after the Berlin Pride attack.
