Dragon Fruit Cultivation Raises Incomes for Farmers in Jangaon

Some farmers in Jangaon are growing different crops instead of only rice.

One crop they are growing is dragon fruit.

This helps them find more ways to earn money.

A farmer named Mekala Velangan Reddy grows dragon fruit on 1.60 hectares.

He received Rs.2.56 lakh in assistance under MIDH.

The Horticulture department says an acre of dragon fruit may bring about Rs6.40 lakh before costs.

Growing it may cost between Rs2.40 lakh and Rs2.50 lakh per acre.
