Advent's $1B Whirlpool India Deal Collapses
A big company called Advent International was talking to Whirlpool, a famous home appliance company, about buying a part of Whirlpool's Indian business.
They were going to pay up to $1 billion for this.
But they couldn't agree on the price, so the deal didn't happen.
Whirlpool wanted more money to pay off its debts, but Advent thought the price should be lower because Whirlpool is having some problems in India.
Whirlpool has been in India for a long time and sells many appliances, but other companies like LG and Samsung are giving it tough competition.
The deal would have given Advent a big part of Whirlpool's Indian business, but now it's not going to happen.
Advent International's talks to acquire a 31% stake in Whirlpool of India for up to $1 billion have collapsed.
Disagreements over valuation and short-term headwinds in India's market led to the deal's collapse.
Whirlpool aimed to reduce its stake to raise cash for debt repayment.
The deal would have triggered a mandatory open offer for an additional 26% stake, totaling a 57% stake.
Whirlpool of India's revenue rose 16% in the financial year through March to $880.53 million.
