Manjit Bawa's Art Showcases Myth and Emotion
Manjit Bawa was a famous artist who painted beautiful pictures.
His children, Bhavna and Ravi, have shared some of his best works in an exhibition called 'The Storyteller'.
The exhibition shows 28 of Bawa's artworks, including big paintings and smaller drawings.
Bawa's art is special because it tells stories from myths and shows how different emotions can exist together.
He didn't like to explain everything in his paintings; he wanted people to discover the meaning for themselves.
Bawa's art is gentle and soft, with shapes that blend into each other.
He was inspired by stories and theatre, and he believed that artists should have the freedom to play with the imagery of myths.
Bawa's life and experiences, especially caring for his brother Ravi, also influenced his art.
The exhibition is a great way to learn about Bawa's life and his unique approach to art.
A solo exhibition of Manjit Bawa's paintings and drawings, titled 'The Storyteller', is on display at Vadehra Art Gallery in Defence Colony from January 28 to March 2.
The exhibition features 10 large canvases and 18 works on paper, drawn from the personal collection of Bawa's children, Bhavna and Ravi Bawa.
Bawa's art is known for its gentle and soft forms, often depicting mythological figures and stories in a unique and personal way.
Shashi Tharoor, at the exhibition's opening, encouraged viewers to appreciate Bawa's art without trying to decode it immediately, emphasizing the importance of storytelling in making sense of the world.
Bawa's approach to myth and storytelling is highlighted in the exhibition, showcasing his belief in the artist's freedom to interpret and play with mythological imagery.
