Experts Raise Alarm on Pediatric Sarcoma in India
Doctors and experts from different countries met in Bengaluru to talk about a serious type of cancer called sarcoma, which affects both kids and adults.
They discussed how to improve care and treatment for this cancer, especially in India.
The experts are worried because many children are not diagnosed early enough, and sometimes doctors make the wrong diagnosis.
This can lead to losing lives and limbs.
They believe that if more people know about sarcoma, and if doctors can use special machines like MRIs quickly, they can save more lives.
They also think India needs a special system to keep track of sarcoma cases.
One doctor, Dr. Ajaikumar, said that with the right treatment, sarcoma can be cured, and they have treated many patients successfully.
The meeting had over 200 experts who shared their knowledge and ideas to help improve sarcoma care in India.
Global experts convened in Bengaluru to discuss pediatric and adult sarcoma care and complex limb reconstruction.
The meeting highlighted concerns about late detection, misdiagnosis, and gaps in India's national cancer policy.
Experts emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and rapid access to MRI for better outcomes.
HCG Cancer Centre has treated over 5,000 sarcoma cases, demonstrating successful long-term outcomes.
The event aimed to develop clinical protocols and increase awareness about sarcoma in India.
