Tata Steel Wins Interim Relief in Jharkhand Mining Case

Tata Steel Wins Interim Relief in Jharkhand Mining Case

The Jharkhand government asked Tata Steel to pay ₹1,755 crore over alleged extra coal mining.

The issue relates to coal taken from West Bokaro Colliery many years ago.

Tata Steel says the demand is not properly justified.

In April, the company asked a coal ministry authority to review the demand.

The authority has agreed to consider Tata Steel’s application.

It also told the authorities not to take forceful action against the company while the case continues.

This is only temporary relief, so the dispute has not been finally decided.

Tata Steel also plans to invest ₹11,000 crore in Jharkhand for advanced steel production.
