Teachers Ask SCERT to Move PAT-2 Before Diwali Break
Teachers want the state education authorities to change when students take PAT-2.
The test is for students in Classes II to VIII and covers language, maths and English.
This year, it is scheduled for after the Diwali holiday.
Students are also expected to take their first-term exams before the holiday.
Teachers worry that students may have to start preparing for another test as soon as they return.
They say the holiday should give children time to rest and be with their families.
They have asked officials to consider moving PAT-2 earlier.
One teacher suggested holding it in mid-October or before the first-term exams.
Teachers and school administrators have asked SCERT to reschedule the second Periodic Assessment Test (PAT-2) before the Diwali vacation.
PAT assesses students in Classes II to VIII, with this round covering language, mathematics and English.
The announced timetable places PAT-2 after the Diwali break, following students’ first-term examinations before the vacation.
