Insecurity Hinders Ebola Response in DR Congo
There's a big problem in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo).
A disease called Ebola is spreading, and it's hard to stop because of fighting in the area.
The United Nations and other helpers want to give medicine and stop the disease, but bad guys are making it difficult.
They're hurting people and not letting the helpers in.
The UN says it's very important to keep the helpers safe so they can help everyone who needs it.
The Ebola started on May 15 and has spread to five places in DR Congo.
Lots of people are sick, and some have been hurt or killed in the fighting.
The UN is asking everyone to stop the fighting so they can help the sick people.
Insecurity in North Kivu province, DR Congo, is hindering Ebola outbreak response efforts.
At least 30 people were killed and 12 injured in attacks in Beni territory between July 13 and 19.
Six humanitarian organizations, including UN partners, have suspended movements due to the deteriorating security situation.
As of July 20, there are 2,473 confirmed Ebola cases across five provinces in DR Congo.
The UN is calling for safe and unhindered humanitarian access to contain the outbreak and assist those in need.
