Moderna mRNA Flu Vaccine Shows Nearly 30% Better Protection

Scientists tested a new flu vaccine for adults aged 50 and older.

The vaccine is called MFLUSIVA.

It uses mRNA technology.

In a large Phase 3 study, it provided nearly 30% more protection than a standard-dose flu shot.

Moderna makes the vaccine.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved it in August 2026.

It is meant to protect against flu strains included in the vaccine.

The approval applies to adults who are at least 50 years old.
