APAAR ID will ensure lifelong digital access to academic records
The government has a new way to keep school records safe.
Every student gets a special number called an APAAR ID.
This number has 12 digits.
All of the student's school papers and grades get stored in one digital place.
That means a student's school history can be checked quickly and easily on a computer.
It makes it easier to change schools or start at a new school.
Parents must say yes before an ID is made for their child.
A minister in Uttar Pradesh told lawmakers about this plan.
He said the records will be useful for a student's whole academic life.
He said the system will help students for many years.
Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said APAAR IDs provide lifelong, digitally verified access to students' academic records.
Each student receives a unique 12-digit digital ID under the Centre's Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) initiative.
The system aims to simplify admissions and transfers between educational institutions through instant digital verification.
APAAR IDs are being generated only with the consent of parents.
Singh made the remarks in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council during the monsoon session, calling the Union government initiative a significant long-term reform.
