Left Front Open to Alliance Talks
The Left Front in West Bengal is thinking about making alliances with other parties before the next big election in 2026.
Their leader, Biman Bose, said they are talking to parties that don't like the Trinamul Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
One of these parties is the Janata Unnayan Party, led by Humayun Kabir, who used to be in the Trinamul Congress.
Mr. Bose didn't say no to talking with Mr. Kabir, but he also didn't say yes.
The Trinamul Congress doesn't like this idea because Mr. Kabir has said he might work with the BJP.
Mr. Kabir thinks his party could win a lot of seats and he could become the next chief minister.
Left Front chairman Biman Bose did not rule out alliance talks with the Janata Unnayan Party (JUP).
Discussions are ongoing with parties opposed to Trinamul Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party.
JUP leader Humayun Kabir has invited anti-Trinamul parties to join his alliance.
Trinamul Congress spokesperson Tanmay Ghosh criticized the Left Front for considering an alliance with Kabir.
Kabir has set a deadline of 30 January for alliance talks and claims his party could win 100-110 seats in the 2026 elections.
