MSRTC Suspends 7 Staff After Surprise Checks, To Install Breath Analyzers in Buses
Imagine a big bus company in Maharashtra called MSRTC that helps many people get around.
The boss of the transport system, Pratap Sarnaik, heard that some bus drivers and other workers were drinking alcohol before they started their jobs.
This is very dangerous because it can cause accidents and hurt people.
So, he told his helpers to check everyone very suddenly and without warning.
They checked over 1,700 people on one day.
They found seven workers who had been drinking.
These seven workers have now been suspended, which means they can't work for a while.
To make sure this doesn't happen again, the company will also put special breath-testing machines in all their new buses.
These machines will help make sure drivers are not drunk before they start driving.
The leaders want to make sure everyone is safe when they ride the bus.
Seven MSRTC employees were suspended for reporting to duty under the influence of alcohol.
A surprise statewide inspection on October 28, 2025, tested 1,701 employees.
The inspection was ordered by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik following complaints about staff intoxication.
MSRTC will install breath analyzers in all new buses to prevent intoxicated drivers from operating them.
Similar surprise inspection drives are planned to continue across the state.
