New Interlocutor Appointed for Darjeeling Hills Amidst Mixed Reactions
A new person, Pankaj Kumar Singh, has been chosen to talk with people in the Darjeeling Hills.
This area has long-standing problems about who the people are and how they are governed.
Some people are very hopeful that this new talk will help solve these problems, especially because two local politicians, Raju Bista and Harsh Vardhan Shringla, are also involved and believe it's a good step.
They think Singh has the right experience.
However, others are not so sure.
They wonder if this is just a political move before an election and if it will actually lead to any real changes, as past talks haven't worked.
Despite these doubts, the politicians are encouraging people to have faith and be patient with the process.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, former deputy National Security Adviser, has been appointed as the new interlocutor for the Darjeeling Hills, Terai, and Dooars region.
The appointment aims to address the long-standing identity and administrative concerns of the Gorkha residents in the region.
Many Gorkha residents and aspiring leaders are expressing optimism, believing the new interlocutor, along with local MPs, can help achieve the dream of Gorkhaland.
Some political observers and residents are skeptical, viewing the appointment as a potential pre-poll tactic or a gesture that may not yield concrete results.
MP Raju Bista and Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Vardhan Shringla have expressed confidence in the process, highlighting Singh's experience and the significance of the step towards a solution.
