Crypto Market Faces $1.16 Trillion Decline
The world of cryptocurrencies has seen a huge drop in value, with over $1.16 trillion lost in the past 50 days.
Bitcoin, the most well-known cryptocurrency, fell by 36% from its highest point in October to a low in November.
This drop has affected not just Bitcoin but also companies that invest in Bitcoin, like Strategy Inc., which has seen its shares fall by 67% from their highest point.
Other crypto-related stocks and companies have also seen big losses.
Some people think Bitcoin might recover because the US Federal Reserve might cut interest rates, which could make more money available for investment.
However, this also means that the same extra money that Bitcoin was supposed to avoid is now helping it stay afloat.
Gold, on the other hand, has done much better, with a 62% increase in value this year, while Bitcoin has actually lost value.
This makes people question whether cryptocurrencies are really a good way to store value or protect against inflation.
India's stance on cryptocurrencies is also different from many other countries.
The cryptocurrency market has lost $1.16 trillion in value over the past 50 days.
Bitcoin experienced a 36% drawdown from its peak of $126,198 on October 6 to $80,660 on November 21.
Strategy Inc., a major Bitcoin treasury company, has seen its shares drop 67% from their November 2024 high.
Other crypto-related stocks and companies have also seen significant losses, with declines ranging from 25% to 51%.
Gold has performed much better than Bitcoin, with a 62% year-to-date return compared to Bitcoin's -2.7%.
