John Ternus Takes Over as Apple CEO From Tim Cook

John Ternus is the new boss of Apple.

He took over from Tim Cook on Tuesday, September 1.

Cook had led Apple for 15 years and is moving into an executive chairman role.

Ternus has worked at Apple since 2001.

He helped lead the teams that built important products such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

He is an engineer who knows how Apple designs products and develops its chips.

Apple chose him because he already understands the company from the inside.

His job will include guiding Apple’s future products and artificial intelligence plans.

The change moves Apple from an operations-focused leader toward a more product- and engineering-focused one.
