Pentagon reports 774 US casualties in Iran war amid backlash

The United States says hundreds of its military personnel have been hurt in the war with Iran.

The Pentagon reports that 756 service members were wounded and 18 were killed.

Together, that makes 774 casualties.

The Pentagon added 50 wounded people to its public database this week.

News organizations and Democratic lawmakers criticized the government for reporting the numbers slowly.

Officials said some delays were caused by security concerns and temporary database problems.

The Pentagon says the latest airstrikes began after Iran targeted shipping tankers near the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump has also announced stronger economic pressure against Iran while talks remain stalled.
