India-US trade talks near conclusion
India and the United States are in the final stages of talking about a big trade deal.
India has already made deals with Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.
They are also planning to talk to Canada about a similar deal.
The talks with the US are going well, but there is no set deadline for when the deal will be signed.
Both countries want to make sure the deal is good for everyone before they agree.
The goal is to lower the taxes on things that India sells to the US, which would make trade easier and better for both countries.
India wants to make sure that farmers and small businesses are protected, while the US wants lower taxes on things like almonds and apples.
The US is a very important market for India, so this deal is quite important.
India and the US are in advanced stages of negotiating a bilateral trade agreement, aiming to lower tariffs on Indian exports.
India has already finalized free trade agreements with Australia, the UK, and New Zealand, and is planning to start talks with Canada.
The US has imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, which is hurting Indian exporters, but they have maintained their exports despite this challenge.
The US is seeking duty concessions on agricultural products like almonds, corn, and apples, while India has strongly opposed any concessions in the agri and dairy sectors.
The goal of the trade agreement is to more than double bilateral trade to USD 500 billion by 2030, from the current USD 191 billion.
