Kolkata Civic Team Seizes 500 Kg Fish, Meat Stock

A city team in Kolkata checked a Chinese restaurant for food-safety problems.

Officials said they found about 500 kilograms of fish and meat stored badly.

The food was in open, dirty refrigerators and had no labels or dates.

The team took the food away and sent it for disposal.

The checks were increased before the festive season, when more people visit restaurants.

Officials also inspected restaurants and resorts in other parts of West Bengal.

Some places reportedly had stale or expired food.

A bakery in Bhadreswar was closed until it is cleaned properly.
