Mumbai Airport Upgrades Taxiway for Faster Takeoffs
Mumbai's airport has opened a new taxiway called Taxiway M. This new path runs parallel to the main runway and helps planes take off faster.
It makes things smoother during busy times by letting planes line up more efficiently.
The airport had to move some buildings and work carefully to build this new taxiway.
Now, planes spend less time waiting on the ground, which saves fuel and reduces pollution.
This upgrade helps the airport handle more flights and makes operations safer and more reliable.
Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has commissioned Taxiway M, a new parallel taxiway to the primary runway.
Taxiway M aims to reduce taxi time, improve departure sequencing, and increase departure capacity during peak periods.
The new taxiway provides an alternate routing option during maintenance or disruptions, enhancing operational resilience.
Construction involved relocating the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) building and building a temporary fire station.
The project was completed in approximately 240 days, contributing to lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions.
