WFI Mandates National Camp Attendance for Selection
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has made new rules for wrestlers who want to represent India.
Now, all wrestlers, even the best ones, must attend national training camps to be eligible for selection.
They can't train anywhere else.
To join the camp, wrestlers must have won a medal in certain competitions like the National Championship.
The WFI also says that past achievements won't be considered, and everyone must go through selection trials for big international events.
Even wrestlers who have already qualified for the Olympics must compete in a final trial bout.
The WFI believes this ensures fairness and gives everyone an equal chance.
WFI mandates compulsory attendance at national coaching camps for selection eligibility.
Wrestlers must train exclusively at designated national camps and cannot train independently.
Medalists in National Championship, Federation Cup, or WFI-recognized competitions are eligible for the camp.
Selection trials are mandatory for major international events, including the Olympics.
Olympic quota winners must face a final one-bout selection trial, with a second chance if they lose.
