Karimnagar Technically Charges First Indoor 33/11 kV Power Substation
Karimnagar has switched on its first indoor electricity substation.
It is at Telangana Chowk and was built on a small plot of land.
The project cost ₹6.92 crore.
Two transformers will help send electricity through six feeders at first.
The substation gets power from the Vavilalapalli and Padmanagar substations.
Digital systems let staff monitor it from a control centre and help them find problems faster.
Officials expect it to reduce pressure on three other substations in the city.
Another indoor substation is planned at the Collectorate.
Karimnagar’s first indoor 33/11 kV substation was technically charged Tuesday at Telangana Chowk.
The facility cost ₹6.92 crore and occupies 484 square yards.
It has two 8 MVA transformers using ester-oil technology and will initially supply power through six 11 kV feeders.
The substation receives 33 kV supply from the Vavilalapalli and Padmanagar substations; an additional 33 kV feeder is ready for future use.
SCADA, IED relays and RTU systems support remote monitoring; the facility is expected to ease loads on three existing substations.
