Assam Aims to Boost Milk Production by 2030
Assam wants to make more milk!
They want to produce enough to sell to other states in the Northeast, and eventually produce as much as big milk-producing states.
Right now, they make about 3-4 lakh litres of milk a day and want to increase that to 10 lakh litres.
They plan to create lots of new milk groups, called cooperatives, and are giving money and helping farmers breed better cows.
They hope to reach their goal by 2030, making them less reliant on milk from outside the state.
Assam aims to produce 10 lakh litres of milk daily to capture the Northeast dairy market.
The state plans to establish 4,000 milk cooperatives for increased production.
Assam currently produces 3-4 lakh litres of milk daily through over 850 cooperatives.
The government is providing incentives like seed funding and promoting sex-sorted semen and crossbreeding.
The government aims to achieve its production goals by 2030, focusing on self-sufficiency and replacing imported products.
