Trump-Brokered Thailand-Cambodia Peace Deal Suspended After Landmine Blast
Imagine two neighboring countries, Thailand and Cambodia, who had a big fight and then made a peace agreement with the help of Donald Trump.
But, sadly, after a landmine exploded and hurt some soldiers near their border, Thailand decided to pause the peace plan.
The Thai leaders said that even though they agreed to be peaceful, they still feel unsafe.
The explosion hurt two soldiers, and now Thailand is stopping the next steps of the agreement, which included letting some Cambodian soldiers go.
Cambodia says they still want peace, but the deal is now on hold because of this scary event.
Thailand has suspended a peace agreement with Cambodia that was brokered by former US President Donald Trump.
The suspension follows a landmine blast that injured two Thai soldiers in a contested border area.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the security threat has not decreased.
The next phase of the peace deal, now in suspension, included the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers detained in Thailand.
Cambodia has stated it has an 'unwavering commitment' to peace.
