Republic Day Invite Honors Northeast Heritage
This year's Republic Day ‘At Home’ invitation is very special.
President Droupadi Murmu has designed it to celebrate the culture and art of the eight northeastern states of India, called the Ashtalakshmi.
Guests will receive a special Eri silk stole, which is also known as peace silk.
The stole has beautiful designs inspired by animals and flowers from different northeastern states.
The invitation box is also a piece of art, made with bamboo and cotton threads.
It includes a handmade paper tag and a bamboo ornament.
The box features eight different art forms from the region, like pottery and weaving.
Over 350 artisans and a team from the National Institute of Design worked together to create this special invitation.
It is a tribute to the skilled artisans of the Northeast and their traditional crafts.
