Odisha Road Cave-Ins Raise Construction Quality Concerns
Two roads in Odisha collapsed on a Sunday.
In Bhubaneswar, a road near a busy square fell, making a big hole and stopping traffic.
In Puri, a new road gave way under a truck, but the driver was fine.
People think the roads were built badly and want the builders held responsible.
Officials say they will check the roads before fixing them.
Two road cave-ins occurred in Odisha on Sunday, one in Bhubaneswar and another in Puri district.
The Bhubaneswar collapse left a 5–6 foot crater on the Garage Square–Ravi Talkies road, disrupting traffic and exposing a hollow cavity beneath the asphalt.
In Puri, a newly built Balanga–Haripur road collapsed under a sand‑laden Hyva truck near Deuli village, causing the truck to overturn but leaving the driver unharmed.
Residents allege the Puri road, built at a cost of about Rs 22 crore, failed within a month of completion, raising questions about construction quality and contractor accountability.
Officials have not yet released a statement; an independent technical inspection is expected before any restoration work.
